Revealed: why Man United’s recruitment team had meetings with Barcelona & Real Madrid representatives
Man United’s football director John Murtough and director of football negotiations Matt Hargreaves have recently been pictured having meetings with top brasses of major La Liga clubs.
The two were seen having dinner with representatives for Barcelona and Atletico Madrid – something which piqued the fans’ attention. They are also set to have meetings with Real Madrid’s reps too.
As per ESPN, this is being done as part of the Red Devils’ hierarchy’s attempt to get a jump start on their summer squad rebuild.
Murtough and Hargreaves held meetings with the Spanish clubs to discuss some potential transfers that could take place in the summer.
Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Mason Greenwood from the Red Devils this summer and he could be open to a sale for around £40m.
Man United have decent money to spend in their first summer transfer window with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s confidantes in sporting control and are prioritizing the signing of a striker and centre-back.
