Joe Rogan makes crystal clear who he believes will win Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight

Mike Tyson still has the speed and power to “f*** up” Jake Paul in their Netflix fight despite being 58 years old, according to Joe Rogan.

Tyson has agreed to fight a man over 30 years his junior in Texas on July 20. The legendary heavyweight retired from professional boxing in 2005 but did step back into the ring for an exhibition against Roy Jones Jr in November 2020.

He is now training to take on 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul at Dallas Cowboys’ 80,000-seat AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Paul has a 9-1 professional record after beating Ryan Bourland in the first round in Puerto Rico on March 2 and is favoured to win by bookmakers.

But UFC commentator Rogan has warned those who are writing off Tyson just because he will be 59 by the time the fight comes around. “I don’t give a f*** if he’s 55 – that’s still Mike Tyson,” he said on his podcast, the Joe Rogan Experience. “He trains with Rafael Cordeiro, who’s a legend in MMA – he runs Kings Mixed Martial Arts. Rafael is a world-renowned trainer.

“When you see him holding the mits for Tyson and Tyson is smashing the mits. Jesus! That guy can still f*** you up. In this world with hormone replacement and vitamins. He does all this electrical muscle stimulation recovery stuff.

“When they were training Mike for that Roy Jones fight they were using state-of-the-art science. I don’t give a f*** if he’s 55 years old, that guy will hurt you. If Jake Paul’s on the other side of the ring and he sees Mike Tyson bobbing and weaving he’s going to have a recognition. He’s going to look over and go, ‘Oh my God, that’s really Mike Tyson.’”

He added: “At 55 the power is the last thing to go but the thing is the speed is still there. It’s terrifying. And I don’t know what he did with Roy Jones Jr but in my mind, they made some sort of agreement where Mike wasn’t going to punch him in the face because most of the hits he hit him with, unless it was a jab, was to the body.”

Rogan did also compliment Paul, who has developed a reputation in boxing after crossing over from YouTube. He said: “Just forget that Jake Paul is a YouTube guy and watch him fight. The kid can fight. 100 per cent. That Tommy Fury fight really showed that. It goes to a split decision against a legit undefeated boxer.”

Speaking back in April 2022, Tyson sounded extremely confident of fighting people like Paul. “The only thing I got to do is be in shape,” he said. “30 days of boxing training every day and I can fight anyone. If I’m boxing every day I wouldn’t even have to worry about [my] diet.”
