Chelsea told they’ll have ‘no option but to sell’ £87m star to Arsenal due to FFP issues

Chelsea would be forced to sell Mykhaylo Mudryk to Arsenal if the Gunners came calling in the summer transfer window, according to former Blues defender William Gallas.

Chelsea have been warned they may have to accept an Arsenal transfer offer for Mykhaylo Mudryk due to FFP worries.

William Gallas reckons the Blues will “have no option but to sell” if Arsenal make a move for Mudryk in the summer transfer window. Mudryk joined Chelsea in a deal that could hit £87million back in January 2023, as part of Todd Boehly’s busy first few transfer windows as owner.

The Ukraine international came to west London with a big reputation but hasn’t lived up to it, scoring just five goals and providing five assists in 45 games. Under Boehly’s leadership, Chelsea have splashed over £1bn on transfers and have been warned they could face serious consequences under the Premier League’s financial fair play rules.

Clubs can only lose £105m over three years rules which Everton and Nottingham Forest have already broken. Arsenal had Mudryk at the top of their transfer wishlist for the January 2023 window, but were beaten to his signature Chelsea.

Despite his underwhelming performances, the Gunners might still be interested, especially after selling Kai Havertz for £65m last summer. Gallas thinks Chelsea would be practically powerless in this situation, given their need to balance their finances this summer.
