‘Not a matter of age’: Messi reveals when he plans to retire
Lionel Messi is not planning to retire anytime soon despite clocking the age of 36.
“I know that as soon as I believe that I can no longer perform, or no longer enjoy the game, or not able to help my teammates, then I will stop,” Messi said when asked about his retirement plans.
“For my retirement, it will not matter what age I am. If I feel good, I will keep playing,” Messi said.
The Barcelona legend continues to perform at Inter Miami in the MLS where he has scored five goals in five games since the start of the season. He also has two assists.
Messi is gearing up for the Copa America with Argentina in the summer. He could well feature at the World Cup in 2026.
Leo Messi has played 1052 games in his career scoring 826 goals and laying on 363 assists.
