PSG prepare £75million offer to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United

Paris Saint-Germain are ready to test Manchester United’s resolve to keep striker Marcus Rashford this summer with a £75million bid.

The French giants are ready to launch a second attempt to sign Rashford to replace Kylian Mbappe, who is set to leave PSG for Real Madrid.

PSG made a concerted effort to sign Rashford in 2022 and were prepared to hand the England star a lucrative contract worth a whopping £400,000-a-week. Rashford decided to stay at United and hit a career-best 30 goals last season, which earned the 26-year-old a new long-term deal until 2028, worth £350,000-a-week.

But Rashford has struggled to repeat those heroics this season, with just seven goals from 34 appearances for United, and has endured difficulties off the field as well.

He was reprimanded by United boss Erik ten Hag back in October, after celebrating his birthday at a Manchester nightclub, just hours after United were beaten 3-0 at home by local rivals City.

Rashford was dropped for United’s FA Cup tie at Newport in January, after calling in sick and missing training following a 12-hour drinking session on a trip to Belfast.

PSG are convinced they can take advantage of Rashford’s current predicament at United by making a renewed bid to sign him as Mbappe’s replacement, with an opening bid of £75m.

United could be tempted by such an offer – although they value Rashford closer to £100m – particularly against the backdrop of such stringent financial fair play regulations, which have restricted their spending in the transfer market.

But Rashford’s status as a home-grown player, who came through the ranks at United, means any transfer fee will be seen as pure profit under Premier League P&S rules, which would give them greater flexibility on spending to strengthen the squad.

Despite Rashford underlining his commitment to United in an interview with the Players’ Tribune last month, PSG are convinced they can succeed in luring him to the French capital, although they are also monitoring Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

A fresh start could also appeal to Rashford, despite his lifelong bond with United, given the problems he has endured on and off the field, which have made it such a difficult season for him.
