Did Memphis Depay really pay €1m to bail Dani Alves out of jail?
Dani Alves left his jail in Spain on Monday after posting a €1m bill. The former Barcelona defender spent a total of 14 months in detention, both during his trial and after receiving the sentence.
The news has emerged that it was Memphis Depay who paid the money needed for the Brazilian to walk free.
The Dutchman’s agent Sébastien Ledure told Informativos Telecinco: “This is fake news. It’s a false story, not true at all.”
Alves was found guilty of raping a woman in a nightclub in December 2022. He was sentenced to four and a half years in prison.
