€1bn release clause, €500m profit & more — All figures behind Mbappe to Madrid deal

Real Madrid have signed Kylian Mbappe — the forward will join the club on July 1, after the expiry of his contract with PSG.

Technically it’s a free transfer but it is anything but free in reality as Madrid will have to splash the cash on the Frenchman.

The 25-year-old will earn €30m in yearly wages at Madrid (€15m after taxes), COPE report. The Whites will also pay a €125m signing-on bonus to the forward, spread over five years.

Mbappe’s contract contains a €1bn release clause. It’s obligatory for all players in Spain to have a buyout clause in the contract and it was intentionally made this big.

Despite the fact that Madrid will pay a lot of money to Kylian, they expect great returns from him — and not only on the pitch. Diario AS add that Los Blancos believe they will generate over €500m through shirt sales, merchandise and sponshorships after the arrival of Mbappe.
