Barcelona has stripped Dani Alves, who was recently sentenced to four and a half years in prison for sexual assault, of his status as a club legend.

Throughout their 125-year history, 102 players have been named Barcelona legends, with Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique the latest to join the list.

Barcelona have removed Dani Alves, who was sentenced to four and a half months in prison, as well as compensation of 150,000 euros and payment of legal costs, from their legends section on their website.

“Barca has made this symbolic act effective once the sentence for sexual assault has become final,” published the newspaper ‘Sport’.

Dani Alves’ track record as a Barcelona player

Dani Alves, the second most successful footballer in history with 43 titles only surpassed by Leo Messi, played 408 games with Barcelona winning 3 Champions League, 3 European Super Cups, 3 Club World Cups, 6 LaLiga titles, 4 Copa del Rey and 4 Supercopa de Espana.
